The \u00a32,500 prize was awarded for his work on oncojan\u2122, an innovative drug delivery technology to better target anti-cancer drugs. The judging panel commended OncoJan\u2122 for its potential to revolutionise the treatment of ovarian cancer and other solid tumour types whilst Trevor Baylis OBE, inventor of the wind up radio, who presented Dr Ateh with his award remarked on the importance of invention and the potential to transform quality of life.<\/p>\n
Other awards on the night included Innovator of the Year, awarded to Julian Ahmed from the Cardiology \/ Respiratory Department at Barts, also Dragons\u2019 Den event winner, given to Markus Baker, Speciality Registrar for Trauma and Orthopaedics, and the Dark Horse Award for Trauma \/ HDU Staff Nurse Amy MacNeil.<\/p>\n
Dr Ateh explained his delight at receiving the prize: \u201cI am extremely grateful for the recognition received through this award, highlighting the potential importance of the invention but also our considerable commercialisation efforts. I thank the judges, the Joint R&D office, NHS Innovations London and Queen Mary Innovation who have been particularly supportive since the inception of the idea.
